OUR COMMITMENT TO OUR VETERANS
Serving Those Who Served Us
At Lighthouse Hospice, we strive to provide the best, most meaningful service to those that have sacrificed for our great country. In partnership with the Veterans Administration and the We Honor Veterans Program, our work is centered on providing a calm, dignified, and honorable end-of-life experience; reflective of the selfless lives of the veterans we serve.
We Honor Veterans Program
Since 2018, Lighthouse Hospice & Palliative Care has been privileged to be designated as an official partner of the We Honor Veterans program, in collaboration with the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. While this partnership is not required for hospice operations, it reflects our commitment to the incredible contributions of our nation’s military veterans and their families. It identifies our dedication to providing the highest level of hospice care that is attuned to the veteran community, and focused on respectful inquiry, compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgment.
-
Our social workers have established experience in navigating through VA benefits processes and procedures to ensure you receive maximum use of your VA benefits toward your hospice care.
-
All new Lighthouse staff and volunteers are trained with a U.S. military presentation and briefing on our We Honor Veterans program partnership and initiatives as part of their new employee orientation requirements.
-
We maintain a Lighthouse Warriors website page to highlight the military service of our patients and staff.
-
Every new patient completes a Military History Checklist that is available to our entire team. This helps ensure our staff’s full awareness of our veterans’ unique commitment and needs.
-
Lighthouse provides informational hospice briefings to our local veterans organizations to increase situational awareness and ensure our veterans are well informed to choose the kind of end-of-life care that best suits their needs and interests.
-
Lighthouse proudly partners with and sponsors local veteran organizations and community events. Most recently, we participated in a 2021 Memorial day wreath-laying ceremony at the Kuna Cemetery.
